Making Valentine’s Day fun For Kids
When Christmas came around this year, I realized how quickly Hunter + Gracie were growing. I want to be intentional with the time I have with them, especially for holidays. I love the idea of being the mom that goes ALL OUT with the holiday prep and decor. But let’s be real here, sometimes making the magic happen is hard energy to match. So, we’re doing easy Valentine’s Day stuff this year.
Valentine’s Day Baskets
Kids love silly little gifts, right? I love being able to put together Valentine’s Day baskets for my kids with small items that make them feel loved, and that’s especially going to be important this year. I found these baskets, which are super cute, but also will be able to hold all those little things I want to put in them. You can add in some of this crinkle cut paper to the bottom to fill some of the space, if you need to.
These little hugging puppies are adorable! You can have them personalized with your child’s name on them, which always makes kids feel so special, when they see their name on something. (I mean, COME ON!!!)
It’s no secret that kids love books. I found this sweet book where you can fill in spaces and make this gift more personal for each kid. (This could also be a great Valentine’s Day gift for a spouse. Our kids are sponges, so why don’t we just speak (and write) good things over them and let them absorb all the things we love about them? 🙂 Another great book idea is this I Spy Valentine’s Day edition! It’s a great way to spend intentional time with your kids and it’s specific to the holiday.
I’ve talked about the Love Box before. This is a great option when you have loved ones out of town that want to send your kids sweet messages. I’m excited to see my kids’ faces light up when they get their messages from their dad and other people we love that are far away!
Valentine’s Day Treats
If you want to put some treats in their baskets, I highly recommend this bulk box of healthy-ish snacks. I have been trying to incorporate more healthy foods into our diet. And we all know that our kids are given ALL the treats. You could put a few of the items in the basket, and if there is something in particular that they like, you’ll have more for them later! You could also use these for Valentine’s for their classes or if they have parties that they will be attending. This box really takes out all of the brain power that you have to exert when you’re signed up for snacks for school!
If you’re anything like me, you love to bake cookies, and it can be so fun to let your kids help with this! I found these cute heart-shaped cookie cutters, and thought it could be a fun gift idea as well. Just grab some of your favorite icing and sprinkles (or whatever you like to decorate your cookies with), and cute Valentine’s Day treat bags. Have some fun making cookies for their teacher and class! This would be so fun for everyone involved!
These ideas are just a few fun ways to make Valentine’s Day for your kids sweet and intentional. It’s important to me that mine know that I love them, and while I show them that everyday, I’m going to choose this holiday to make it abundantly clear!!!
