Airplane Travel Essentials for Kids

Travel, made easy!

I mentioned in my previous blog post that I was planning some fun trips for my family to take during Chris’s deployment. We are so looking forward to visiting family and friends to help pass the time. If you want to check out my post about all of my travel essentials, you can see that here! But now, I’d like to focus on all the things that will help me maintain my sanity when I travel with my kids!!!

Safety First:

First, I highly recommend this Dinosaur backpack for traveling with toddlers! They can carry all of their toys (this makes Hunter feel so big), and it has a leash so you can keep track of them more easily. I know, I know, no one wants to be THAT parent with their kid on a leash. But when you’re traveling through airports with small kids, you will literally do anything to ensure their safety, while also maintaining some sort of sanity.

I have two very young little ones. I can’t hold both of them on an airplane, so these harnesses are amazing for keeping them contained on flights. They also give me lots of peace of mind, and I don’t have to worry about anyone slipping away from me. Absolutely no one wants to be THAT PARENT on a flight with a bunch of strangers, amirite? I’ve used those harnesses on flights a lot, but on this trip I decided to buy these Pico Travel Car Seats to make things a easier.

Let’s Get Practical:

While we’re on the topic of keeping our kids close by when traveling, this lightweight stroller is a great find, if you’re traveling with one kid! I love this because it is super compact and easy to maneuver. Since I now have two, I got the Zoe Twin double stroller and it’s AMAZING for all kinds of trips and outings. It makes everything so much easier! And if you grab this airplane stroller bag, you can slip it in there to make checking everything seamless! And the Disney Baby Stroller Organizer is a *dream* for keeping everything on hand.

If you’re traveling on a plane and won’t have a car, you typically will still need car seats for rental cars and such. These car seat bags are another great find to keep the car seats neat during travel. Because who are we kidding? Getting to your destination and finding your car seat damaged in travel battle is not ideal!

Now for the Fun Travel Stuff:

The best way, I’ve found, to keep everyone happy during travel days is snacks… obviously. These snack spinners are super easy for holding all of your trip snacks. And the best part about these is that they’re reusable! I also love these kids sized Stanley bottles. They’re heavy duty, so they won’t break if they get dropped.

Because we’ll be doing a lot of flying when we travel, I wanted toys that couldn’t get lost under any seats and we be easy to use on the planes. The most important item is the Amazon Fire tablets, because I can download shows on their apps for them. And these blue tooth headphones are great!

I also grabbed a couple of busy boards for them. These help them practice their motor skills, but I don’t have to keep up with any loose pieces, which is so nice! Fidget toys and books are other great options for keeping their hands busy and their minds occupied if they get bored watching their shows.

I also really love these LCD drawing pads. They come with a pen that is connected to the pad, so it can’t get lost. They love to play with these at home. But I also like to pack them when we travel because they can draw without me having to worry about keeping up with markers or crayons.

I hope these things make your travel days a little easier and much more fun!
