Hunter’s Nursery

My First Baby Isn’t A Baby Anymore

I’ve already mentioned that I had big plans for 2024! Keeping busy will be key to help get my family through this deployment. One of the projects that I will be tackling (in the pretty near future) will be transitioning Hunter’s nursery into his “big boy” room. But before I do that, I wanted to revisit how absolutely perfect and stunning his nursery is.

Shout Out!

I’m so thankful to Lindsay (@frills_and_drills), Jennifer (@makingprettyspaces), and Angela (@angelarosehome) for all of the work they put into this room for my son. It really is exactly what I wanted for him. They also did our master bedroom, and it’s so dreamy! You can check out the blog post on our room here!

The Nursery Must-Haves

I love having a cozy place for my family to land. And Hunter’s room has been just that for him. No room is completely cozy without a rug, amirite? I love the way this rug ties in all the elements of his room, but also has a masculine look. It is definitely one that can grow with him.

No nursery is complete without a comfy rocker for those long nights, and this pouf is perfect for kicking your feet up while you do that. They’re so comfy that I was actually able to get a little sleep while I rocked him, so HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all you mamas with infants!

I loved the color of this crib, because it was light enough that it didn’t feel like a big chunky piece of furniture. I wanted the room to be light and airy, and this crib totally brought that energy! (And you’ll obviously need a crib mattress. Please don’t forget that lol.)

The crib didn’t come with other matching furniture, so I opted for this dresser, because it could tie in some of the lighter colors I wanted to add. It was also big enough to hold all of his clothes and diapers without needing to add any other furniture for storage.

Accessories To Tie The Nursery Together

I love this cane light fixture because light fixtures can sometimes be a little harsh, and since this was a nursery, this one was perfect for creating a softer space. It also looked beatiful (but still MANLY) with these curtains! We’re creating a vibe here, can’t you tell?

When it was time to start decorating I went for subtle masculinity so that all of the pieces could stay in the room, even when we changed out furniture. Just like the rug. So we went with these pieces of wall art, and this world map (that also doubles as a portable play mat, if you even decide to take it off the wall). And this wooden shelf, which tied in the wood from the crib, so we could display pictures and other special things.

And just like to nursery would be complete without a rocker, no room is complete without plants! We all love an olive tree, but what’s better than one? How about TWO olive trees! This one sits next to his crib, and the other sits next to his dresser. They just create such a homey feel to me. And a snake plant, because while they’re beautiful, they also act as a natural air purifier that fights toxins and reduces allergies. There’s a science lesson for the day.

To bring the rest of the room together, we added different textures and colors. You can go check out my LTK post here for the links to all of the accessories we added at the end. 🙂

Stay Tuned!

I’m so excited to watch Hunter grow into a little man. But I am sad that the days of needing a crib are coming to an end. I am glad that we will be able to keep elements of his very first room, to preserve the memories of those sweet early days with him. Stay tuned for Hunter’s big boy room coming very soon!
