LVP Floors of my dreams

Replacing SO MANY different flooring textures!

When I tell you change was needed, I mean it! We had different flooring everywhere you looked!

WE HAD 8 different types of floors just on our main level it was inside. The journey of replacing every single one of them with the same LVP flooring is one of those life changing transformations for a house, but also it is so perfect it feels like it’s just been there all along. We demoed all of the floors at the same time. I didn’t demo it, we hired that out because I was SO PREGNANT and it’s super manual labor. It was October, Hunter was due in November. We did get some help there, check out the process!. But let’s get into the details.

THE FLOORS WE USED

The floors are Provenza Floors’ MaxCore LVP Waterproof from the Moda Living collection. They are not only beautiful, but they’re also incredibly durable, which is perfect for our wild house with two dogs + two toddlers! What exactly is LVP? (Luxury Vinyl Plank) Well, it’s a type of flooring that mimics the look and feel of real wood, but without the high price tag or the high maintenance.

Also, LVP is a game-changer when it comes to replacing your floors. The biggest advantage? Durability, luxury vinyl plank is built to withstand the trials of everyday life. Got kids running around? No worries. Pets making a mess? Not a problem. With its scratch-resistant and waterproof properties, you can say goodbye to those pesky worries about spills, stains, or scratches ruining your beautiful floors. It can also be installed over existing floors if you don’t want to do demo.

Installing them

LVP is also super easy to install. Even if you’re not the handiest person around, you can tackle this project with confidence. Many options come with a simple click-lock system, making installation a breeze. It’s like putting together a giant puzzle, but without the frustration. Plus, LVP is often thinner than other flooring options, meaning you won’t have to worry about doors scraping or having to adjust the height of your baseboards.

Our floors interlock, and have a beveled edge. The color I chose for my LVP floors is called “Sweet Talker” from Provenza Floors. I do have one big tip when choosing floors, it is to buy an entire box of whatever color you’re thinking of, because the variation can be very different compared to just one sample piece. For my floors, the variation in our floors is so intense, you would have gotten them done and been like “this is not the floor that I chose”. So that would be tip number one when looking at floors, sample a larger area.

What else about the floors? We didn’t have to take baseboards off. and we also didn’t level the subfloo, which i’ll probably regret later and that’s a big NO NO. so don’t do that =). We added quarter round to bridge the gap of the new floors to the baseboard. And we what else? Oh all of our door jams are messed up now because of it. So I have to fix all of our doorjams which we haven’t done yet. We put the new floors in the foyer in the hallways in the kitchen in the living room, and the kids bathroom. And it’s beautiful.

Now, let’s talk about aesthetics. Luxury vinyl plank has come a long way in terms of design. The days of cheap-looking faux wood are long gone. Manufacturers have stepped up their game, creating stunning and realistic textures and finishes. You’ll find LVP options that mimic the intricate grain patterns of hardwood so convincingly that your guests might need a closer look to tell the difference. It’s like magic for your floors!

One of the best things about LVP is its low maintenance nature. The floors require minimal effort to keep them looking as good as new. Just a regular sweep and occasional damp mop (Tineco reminder!)  is all you need to maintain that fresh and clean look. It’s perfect for those of us who want a beautiful home without spending hours on upkeep.

Now that we’ve lived with them for a while, I do love them but I wish that I had ones that interlocked a little better and didn’t have the beveled edge because dirt gets stuck in the middle of the beveled edge which I don’t like. Here is the perfect time to mention how I clean them, and ya’ll know because I talk about it  ALL THE TIME. My Tineco vacuum mop. Man, do I love it. The Tineco is like the best thing ever!!

AFFORDABILITY

Last but not least, let’s touch on the affordability factor. Traditional hardwood or stone floors can cost a small fortune. But LVP provides a cost-effective solution that doesn’t compromise on style or quality. You can achieve the high-end look you desire without breaking the bank. And who doesn’t love saving some extra cash for other home improvement projects?!

Honestly, Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring is a total winner when it comes to replacing your floors. With its durability, easy installation, low maintenance, and stunning designs, LVP checks all the boxes. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or just looking to spruce up your living space, LVP is your go-to option. So go ahead, take the leap!
