The Ultimate Car Command Center: Mission ‘ready for anything’

Okay, I know that when you throw “car ride” and “kids” in the same sentence, it can mean disaster. Whether you’re planning a cross-country flight or just a quick restaurant outing, the struggle to keep your tiny humans entertained, fed, and somewhat sane during travel is all too real. Down the line you’re bound to get an “I’m Bored” or “I have to go potty”. Don’t even get me going on trying to keep them in the chair at a restaurant or airplane seat. Fear not, because I’ve gathered some tips and tricks to help you conquer the chaos. Buckle up!

First thing…girl, you have to organize the trunk!

A place for everything

I love this trunk organizer, I have two! I love using pouches for toys, snacks, extra clean clothes, mom stuff etc. These pouches are slender, zip, and are handy everywhere! (Good for games, puzzles, and lego kits inside too!) I use the wet bags for swim. I keep their bathing suits/swim diapers in there, change them, and then put the wet back in.

Look, I need to ALWAYS be ready when potty training is in season. Being in the thick of it, let’s just keep what we need right there in the car too. I use a travel potty + liners that make it super easy for pitstops! Of course, those spare clothes and diapers come in handy that I keep stored 24/7 in my trunk organizer! I can foresee trying this portable urinal for my son soon too!

now let’s entertain them!

Is it me or do we go through all the toys, gadgets and devices to keep the kids quiet in the car, or sitting down at the restaurant table and don’t forget, the plane! Whoah. It can be overwhelming. One thing to consider is batching the toys together so that you’re always ready to grab one or two things for your purse. I try to keep some of the smaller like items in those zip pouches I mentioned above: like these wikkistix-they make fun shapes and are super creative! These fun suction squigs that can build on each other or on the table/wall/windows. If you’re brave, these pop accordian toys can make some noise! But these squishy stretchy catapillars are more on the quiet, keep your hands busy type. Of course can’t go wrong with water WOW, a tablet or drawing boards.
