A MAJOR PORCH TRANSFORMATION!

HOLY Crap – this space was soo neglected. We stored trash, lawn things and had A TON of bird nests, so there was literally SH*t EVERYWHERE. We desperately needed a transformation!

OVERDUE CLEANUP

Naturally, before the BIG transformation, I had to clean all that mess up. Prep can take the most time and is the least exciting, but it’s necessary. I write a whole blog post on pressure washing & prep! Also, a quick glance with this reel!

what a transformation paint can make!

With a little bit of paint, stain, and LONG, LONG HOURS, I was able to turn this space into this. See the transformation + reveal recap here! The detailed rundown of the painting, including my trial & error, which almost made me rethink all this, can be seen in this blog post!

I don’t know if the paint color (Boothbay Grey) growing on me or if I’m just willing myself to like it so I don’t have to redo it. For now, I’m moving on with other design decisions and work. I had the help of Yardzen for the design concepts for this backyard project. (Check out their services for your projects! Use code LOOP100 for $100 off) They did a great job of helping me tie the whole vision together but also supporting me along the way when I doubted my color choices or material selections, many times. I talked about those color dilemmas in the blog post above.

The teak furniture–i love it!!

If you are looking for new outdoor furniture, look no further than teak furniture! This 7 piece chair and table set was everything I didn’t know I needed. It’s the bomb for outdoor living. Teak is tough as nails and built to survive the outdoors. This wood is naturally rich in oils and rubber, providing it with inherent water resistance + protection against rotting, warping, and cracking. Teak is practically indestructible!

But teak isn’t just rugged. It’s gorgeous. As it ages, it turns into this silver-gray color, but if you want to keep that warm golden glow, a little maintenance does the trick with an application of teak oil. Teak is also bug-proof and stays cool even on scorching days. It warms up this space beautifully AND IT HAS A HIDDEN LEAF.

RUG AT FIRST SIGHT

The Chairs are comfy and foldable which I love and the RUG IS EVERYTHING. It’s an indoor/ outdoor rug in a 8 x10 which is the perfect fit for the table and the space. But I LOVE the texture so much. Its unique and classic all at the same time and the off white warm tones just does the trick for me. I was so happy when these two pieces worked well together because TBH design is not where I excel. Is white a bad choice with dogs and a kid.. maybe but I can pressure wash it and give it new life if I need to.

a bar cart-why not.

I have never in my life owned a bar cart so this is new for me but I think for a space that is completely separated from our living space and kitchen it was a necessity. This one is really nice and it has two trays that separate from the cart to help with serving. Right now I’m using the lower one for the fan remotes and its working out great. My only complaint is it is described online “teak look” but its definitely a deeper color but the picture online looks more similar to my table.

Hanging Chairs

I almost didn’t buy these chairs even though they are part of the Yardzen design. I was like how can these be comfortable? My friend’s daughter has one of these in her room and I was told “ITS SO COMFORTABLE” so I bit the bullet and I’ve got to say for the price these are pretty cozy. I hung mine SUPER low for my kids which Chris says is way too low so that will change but I love them and they add a great ambiance to the space.
