Creating a welcoming foyer

First, the actual wall.

Everyone is all about open floor plans but in reality sometimes we need walls! In order to create a more functional and inviting foyer we had to close in our “formal sitting area”, because let’s be honest those are a thing of the past! My plan was to turn the formal sitting area into my office. So I completely redid the walls that used to be an open arch and closed them to begin the office! That gave our entryway a brand-new wall to decorate! (ps. You’re going to love the office transformation! Keep an eye out for a new blog series on the office build-out & styling!) Don’t forget my painting hack to save time!

But let’s talk about what else we did to transform the foyer, you may recall my front door makeover if you have been here a little while! I say this all the time. PAINT MAKES THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE! I painted my front door BLACK on both sides, I modified the sunburst at the top of my door, and added new hardware. I’m so glad I did, it made the door a little more modern! Look back at the process here and learn how to paint your front door. Before I forget we installed new floors throughout our whole first floor and that was really the FIRST step into making this foyer beautiful. Look at the green marble tile that was there before…. yeah I hated it too.

THE PERFECT FOYER TABLE

Let’s talk about the console table and large baskets. They are from Target, they are perfect and I love them. I probably get the most compliments on this space! I have the black console ( it sells out a lot so if you see it jump on it) but it also comes in Brown and White, both just as gorgeous! You could go with any basket option! Here are some that I love for an entryway: This Round Braided Seagrass with an open handle, a Square Seagrass, and even this Open Checkered Weave Milk Crate. The two vases are great for holiday stems or everyday greenery I switch it up seasonally. If you like white, these have 2 heights, and I love that Hearth & Home has a pair of complimentary shades with a 13″ Sunset, and in Taupe, there are 4″, 9″, and 16″.

Add a lamp of choice like this Glass Sphere Mini Table Lamp or a larger light like this Glass Table Lamp & Natural Shade or this Ceramic White Lamp. I love Target’s lamp options, and you’ll surely find something you love. Finish the table with your favorite accessories; some ideas are: stacking a few books under a small lamp, a bowl or tray for keys, and your favorite candle!

THE ART!

Most recently, I shared my hack to get large-scale art for less! But before I found the amazing frame to DIY at Goodwill, you see on the wall now in the foyer, I had 2 DIY’d anthro duped mirrors above my favorite console table. It was my first DIY after Hunter was born. I love mirrors in an entryway, but this frame was too perfect for this space. I had to change it up and get some art!

With this amazing Goodwill frame, I can change out the artwork whenever I want! Love that for me, until it comes to picking out what to put in it! I did enjoy having a Christmas and Winter scene over the holidays! Isn’t that so festive? This brings us to the current foyer, which features the incredible image I turned into art with Kamdon Kreations help! I printed mine as a poster locally and put it in that frame! Watch me do that here!
